I did this monoprint activity in an hour with my three year old, five year old AND teenaged nephew in Boston via facetime. So it’s a great multi-age art project.

Supplies Needed:
- Tinfoil
- Masking Tape
- Paint (tempra paint is ideal – any paint except watercolors will work)
- Paint brush (a thicker sponge one helps to spread the paint)
- Paper
- Q-Tips
- Baby wipes

Here’s how to set up your space:
- Use the masking tape to tape down a piece of tinfoil. How big is the paper you’re using? You’ll want to kind of match up the size of your tinfoil and the size of the paper you are using
- Squeeze a quarter size blob of paint on the tinfoil and spread it evenly with a brush
- Use the q-tip to draw a picture or design. Don’t forget letters have to be written backwards! Do this part relatively quickly so the paint doesn’t dry
- Place your paper on top of your picture, press down lightly and slowly pull your paper up
- Wipe down the tinfoil and repeat

For my little ones, this was a process over product project. They liked the spreading of the paint and painting with a q-tip much better than the actual final print. So don’t stress over the results (and mess – thank you baby wipes)!
